Today I'm back on my Japanese black pine seedling that is from the Grow It bonsai kit that I started
0:09
in the spring of 2020. As you can see last spring it's pretty tiny but it actually put on a lot of
0:15
growth over the last year. This video is short as it didn't do anything to it. I just left it to grow
0:20
but it grows quite a lot. I did actually order a colander to plant this in rather than it being in
0:28
this little grey pot but it didn't arrive and I kind of forgot I ordered it. So I guess it's sort
0:33
of staying in this grey pot for a while. By May you can start to see it's growing a lot
0:39
I actually didn't realise how much it grew until I watched this footage back. I did start under the grow light but it's been outside since the end of last winter so it's
0:47
clearly pretty happy out there. You can see it's pretty bendy too
0:51
I was meant to wire it into an initial shape this autumn, but I totally forgot
0:58
So I have to remember to do that before this spring starts By August it looks massive It got to be at least 10 times bigger than how it was at the start of this video It pretty crazy It just been sat in the full sun
1:11
all summer and it's clearly enjoying itself. I think it's finished growing by September but
1:16
it's safe to say I'm very happy if it's progressed this year. I probably should have wired it around
1:23
now but as I said I forgot. You can see it needs it. The trunk is straight and boring so it needs
1:28
some serious movement put into it. I don't want to do it now as it might damage it slightly and then
1:34
since it's cold and frosty it might damage it further. So it's going to be best just to wait
1:40
until just before spring. But you can see it's still nice and flexible. There's obviously no
1:47
change over the winter. And now it's just waiting for spring and for that wiring
1:58
I like this tree a lot. I have high hopes for it
